Excerpt
Tami Knight began drawing cartoons when she was four years old. In addition to being a gifted artist, she was a brilliant young gymnast. As an eighteen-year-old student at the University of British Columbia studying to become a veterinarian, Knight won the Western Canadian University Gymnastic Championships.
Spoiler alert: Knight never became a veterinarian, and shortly after her Championships victory an automobile accident brought her gymnastics career to a screeching halt.
In the aftermath, friends taught Knight to rock climb at Squamish—the vast, breathtaking granite escarpment sixty minutes north of her home. She was a natural, and she instantly became infatuated with her new pastime. Before long, Knight was one of the top female climbers in Canada.
My Review
My Rating: 4 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Consider “liking” my review on Goodreads!
I was granted complimentary access to Secret Plans, Vol. III as part of my participation in a blog tour for this title with Goddess Fish Promotions. Thank you to all involved in affording me this opportunity! My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.
I was excited to read a graphics-heavy unique piece by a Canadian author, so of course I agreed to review this one! Tami’s autobiographical passages and non-fiction storytelling in between the comic pages are well written and quite interesting. It sounds like Tami is definitely someone with a lot of great stories to tell, and of course this means I should check out her other titles. This is volume 3, after all.
The comics are, well, to repeat a word: interesting. They aren’t the primarily about the Far Side reminiscent human climber on the cover, but rather some racy athletic and adventurous rats. Is it an entertaining read? Yes. Would it get published in the funnies section of the local news paper? Absolutely not! Not “safe for work.” Cute all the same, though!
