I leapt to my feet so fast that I knocked over my chair. Damien was standing on the opposite side of the otherwise-vacant school library, and he was watching me with his dark eyes and brooding expression. I took an unsteady step backward, bumping into the desk and causing the mouse to fall off; it hit the floor with a clatter. My heart was in my throat as I flicked my eyes to the door, gauging how far I was from the exit.
“Lana, the Catchers are after you,” Damien stated.
I actually relaxed a little. “Yeah. I figured that out yesterday when you and your buddies were shooting fire at me. Thanks for the tip, though.”
Damien’s expression remained unreadable. “We’re coming after you again. Tonight.”
