This was a step into something new for me, and I enjoyed my experience. I grew up in the sort of family that views comics as childish things and doesn’t understand the difference between graphic novels, mangas, and comic books, so this is a world I’m only just starting to explore as an adult.

Being a sort of guide to the world and characters, this book was a very interesting way to wade into the 2000 AD world. As someone who hadn’t read a single issue before, this has me feeling confident that I wouldn’t need to track down #1 and start all the way back there in order to have the slightest understanding of what’s going on. I enjoyed meeting all of the characters, learning about the world, and reading about the history of this world, and now I’m sold! I want to read the regular issues now and see them all in action.

For fans who are already familiar with the series, I imagine this will be welcome and intriguing bonus information that serves to enrich a world and cast they already love.

The artwork is stunning, as I would only expect it to be in an established series like this, and I love the way this book was laid out. The mix of illustrations dispersed through the pages and text overlayed in the empty spaces over full-page illustrations keeps everything feeling fresh and interesting, and the choice to make plenty of page backgrounds any colour but white is great! That definitely made it all feel much more exciting and immersive.

Thanks again for access! This was a lot of fun and a great way to get my feet wet in a long-standing property I had previously missed out on.
