Bentley is back, and it’s his birthday! Bentley is excited to share his special day with his new friends, but they are nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Bentley meets Bella, a lost dog whose family has recently moved to Bentley’s neighborhood. Tia, Bentley’s Fairy Dogmother, and the Dog Pack have a BIG secret! They are planning a surprise birthday party for Bentley, and when Tia is around there is always some magic. Wait till you see Bentley’s reaction to his surprise party, and especially to the special guest that Tia brings!

This book once again highlights Bentley’s kind nature, and also shows that moving to a new neighborhood can be fun! Beautifully illustrated by Anne York, Bentley fans will not be disappointed as they follow Bentley’s latest adventure.

My Review

My Rating: 5 Stars
Consider liking my review on Goodreads

I was granted complimentary access to Bentley’s Best Birthday Ever! as part of my participation in a blog tour for this title with iRead Book Tours. Thank you to all involved in affording me this opportunity (and sending a print copy that my daughter will love now that I’ve reviewed it!) My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.

Bentley is back (apparently, I wasn’t aware of these books before) and tomorrow is his birthday. While his friends are planning a surprise party, lonely Bentley finds a new friend Bella who is lost and helps her get back to her family. Bentley is such a big dog that his friends have to get a little creative finding the perfect gifts for him. How will his birthday turn out?

This story is really cute and fun to read. I predict this will slot itself nicely into my daughter’s go-to rotation of bedtime stories, or maybe even get an honourary spot in the living room cabinet where she’s been reading stories to her teddies in the daytime. Kids who love dogs (so, most kids) will absolutely adore this story and the plot is exactly as complex and quickly paced as a typical episode of something like the old Clifford TV series. (Speaking of, Bentley’s supposed to be bigger than any dog we know…)

The illustrations are gorgeous! It’s digital art with bold lines and bright colours, but unlike a lot of kids books from smaller presses I’ve seen recently, these illustrations are full of detail! I’m particularly fond of the illustration that goes along with Bentley arriving at the park on his birthday with all of his friends hiding behind the trees and bushes waiting to surprise him. There are so many little things to notice!
