An exciting tale of adventure, self-discovery, and courage, from the author of “Confessions of a Traveler: The Observations of Alien 597”. A must-read science fiction novella!

Sophia Lorenzo awoke with no memory or identity and given a mission to murder a mysterious man named Murich Rhys. What will she do? There’s only one way to find out as she heads to his castle and embarks on a long and arduous journey to complete a task she does not want.

Can she battle the scorching heat of the desert? What lies in the wake and maze of the forest? Can she escape from the Snow Dwellers and the inhabitants of the contentious city of Absolute Zero?

She heads to the castle to discover who she is and why she was given this task. The truth is just as crazy as her mission. Sophia Lorenzo finds her compass on the Bermuda Triangle and Dream Five.

My Review

My Rating: 4 Stars
Consider liking my review on Goodreads.

I was granted complimentary access to I Lost My Compass on the Bermuda Triangle and Dream Five as part of my participation on a blog tour for this title with Rachel’s Random Resources. Thank you to all involved in affording me this opportunity! My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.

Sophia, sometimes alternatively known as Mina Van Helsing, is on a mission to kill Murich Rhys. Murich is controlling a city called Absolute Zero (and others?) with a drug called Dream Five, but he’s not the caring, intelligent or benevolent Orwellian overlord he fancies himself to be, and a few rebels who’ve escaped his control want his reign to end. Sophia/Mina must cross a forest, a desert, a mountain, and a river to reach Murich Rhys, and along the way, she’ll encounter all sorts of dangerous beings who’d rather kill her before she reaches her destination, for an assortment of reasons.

This book is a confusing trip! There’s no linear timeline consistency, sometimes we jump into other character POVs, sometimes Sophia knows her own name and sometimes she doesn’t, sometimes she’s in contact with other people she left far behind in a world without modern technology, and sometimes characters who have died appear again. This book will leave you questioning who’s real, who’s under the influence of this drug, and what the drug really is.

I jumped at the chance to review a novella with such an epic title and wasn’t quite prepared for what I was about to read, and I’m not sure what sort of subgenre boxes I would put it in. It’s definitely science fiction, but beyond that I don’t really know. Read this if you want a quick read that’ll leave you wondering what the heck you just read (in a good way!)

Great review! This seems like such a trippy, interesting book, but in a good way. After reading your review, I’m definitely intrigued!
