Posted on December 30, 2020 By Jenna No Comments on Author Guest Post with Sunayna Prasad

Welcome to the December 30th guest post stop on the blog tour for A Curse of Mayhem by Sunayna Prasad, organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Be sure to follow the rest of the tour for more excerpt spotlights, guest posts, reviews, and a giveaway! (More on that at the end of this post.)

I’ll let Sunayna Prasad take it away with the guest post first, then I’ll be back with more information about the book, the author, and that giveaway!

Five Little-Known Facts About Me

by Sunayna Prasad

As an author, you will find much of my search results online are related to writing. But did you know I’m also talented at art, as well as cooking?

Here are 5 facts that you might not know about me:

1: I have traveled to 4 out of all 7 continents

I have traveled so much that if I list every country I’ve visited, you might get overwhelmed. The 3 continents I did not go to include Africa, Australia, and Antarctica.

2: I have a lot of unpopular opinions on movies

It is not uncommon for me to be in the minority of tastes, either in general or specific niches. Want to know some unpopular opinions I have about films? Here are a couple of examples:

  • “Shrek the Third” is the absolute best of the “Shrek” franchise and has flawless slapstick humor.
  • “Teacher’s Pet,” the 2004 animated film, was wonderful and would make a great Broadway show.

3: I had a very active imagination as a child

I liked to imagine my own cartoons or fan versions of them. I still do, but in a different way. Very often, when I was a little kid, I would lie about my life to sound “cool” and have highly unrealistic expectations for my desires.

4: I’ve traveled solo before

This was no walk in the park when it came to begging my parents to allow me to travel alone. I picked a place only a few hours north of where I live and which I have visited before. When I finally went, I had a blast!

5: I wrote my first full-length chapter book in 3rd grade

I am pretty young for an author at age 27. I have even been writing stories since I was little. However, it wasn’t until my late teens where I learned the craft and rules of creative writing and mid-20’s where my products’ reviews boosted from good or decent to great and amazing!

History, like magic, has a habit of repeating itself

It’s been six months since thirteen-year-old Alyssa McCarthy left magic behind for good. Or so she thought…

Then the enchanted objects that protected her disappear. Now a skeleton named Errol has cursed her with magical powers that keep getting her in trouble. Suddenly strange things are happening with disastrous effects, and if Alyssa can’t remove the magic, she will lose everything she holds dear.

In order to get rid of her unwanted wizardry, Alyssa will have to boost her bravery and confidence and determine who Errol really is. But every time Alyssa uses an enchantment, Errol is one step closer to getting his flesh back and becoming alive, and he will do anything to achieve his goals…even if it means destroying Alyssa’s happiness.

Originally published in 2016 as “Wizardry Goes Wild” and “The Unruly Curse” in 2019, “A Curse of Mayhem” is book two in the exciting and suspenseful “Magical Missions” series.

Excerpt

Several hours had passed. It was now ninth period, the last one before school ended. Only twenty minutes remained until the bell rang.

However, thanks to the library closing because two classes had occupied it, Alyssa hadn’t gotten to hone her presentation skills. Even the teachers monitoring the hallway had forbidden her to practice there.

Today through Wednesday, the students would present on different literary elements in the last novel they’d read, Angelica: A Whale Princess. Alyssa had been assigned to discuss the themes and morals of the book.

Mr. Godfrey, the teacher, had picked students randomly to read their brief speeches today, tomorrow, or Wednesday. Alyssa had been assigned for today. So, her stomach made several knots as she watched Sydney present on the characters from the book.

Usually, Mr. Godfrey had a more easygoing attitude toward the class. On his birthday last month, he hadn’t given homework. For the first assignment of the year, he’d played a game with the class to help them prepare for a quiz.
