The Southern Plains became dependent on trade with the North Groves. Each had their own areas of expertise and each had come to rely on the other for their survival. But for some unknown reason this vital trade came to an abrupt halt. The Dwarfs no longer came to the south to trade. Most believed the Dwarfs of the north couldn’t be trusted. Were they trying to starve out the south? Were they trying to increase the price for their goods? Where were they? What game were they playing? You’ll need to read more than the glimpse provided to you on Amazon to learn the answers. This is a beautifully illustrated novel that is “clean” from start-to-finish while also intriguing and genuinely fantasy mystical!

What was their game? Were they trying to starve out the south? Were they trying to increase the price for their goods? Where were they? What game were they playing? In the first book in the History of Small World series, titled The Siege of the Small World we journeyed with the leprechauns as they organized an expedition to the north in order to find out why trade had stopped. This second book in the series begins with their arrival at the North Groves and continues with their trials and challenges in the hope that the northern and southern trade can be reestablished.

Excerpt

You let them escape?” It was an outraged Lord Krakus yelling at Kaklu, the gnome leader standing in front of him in Gamotz, the capital city of the gnomes. The lord had a stockade in each of the three major cities in the Kabul, Gamotz, Tragis, and Morgos. “I’m trying to keep the north separated from the south. Our chances are a lot better if they are not working together. How could you allow this small band of useless southerners to get through to the north when we’ve successfully stopped the dwarfs from making it to the south for so long? What is the matter with you? Have you become weak?”

Kaklu cowered in fear, hunched over with his head held down. “I don’t know what happened,” he mumbled. “Those southerners are tricky, and we were overpowered. There were hundreds of them and only a few of us.”
