Hello readers! My name is Alexis Levesque, the author of the book Hudson at the Track.
On today’s blog stop I list a few reasons why reading books before bedtime offers several benefits for children compared to watching TV:
Sleep Quality:
Reading books is better before bedtime because the light from TV screens can make it harder for kids to fall asleep. Books don’t have this problem, so they help with a good night’s sleep.
Mental Stimulation:
Reading is like a workout for the brain. It helps kids think and imagine things. TV doesn’t make the brain work as much.
Attention Span:
Reading books helps kids focus for a longer time. TV changes quickly, and it’s easy to get distracted. Books teach kids to pay attention.
Quiet Time:
TV can be loud and exciting. Before bed, it’s better to have a quiet time. Reading is calmer and helps kids relax before sleep.
Imagination Boost:
Books let kids create pictures in their minds. It’s like making a movie in their head. This helps them be more creative. TV shows everything, but books let kids imagine more.

I was granted complimentary access to Hudson at the Track by Alexis Levesque as part of my participation in a blog tour for this title with Goddess Fish Promotions. Thank you to all involved in affording me this opportunity! My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.
Hudson at the Track is a short little book that introduces a little boy named Hudson getting started in the world and sport of dirt bike racing. It’s cute, informative, and inspiring, and the illustrations are attractive. I can definitely see this book being of particular interest to kids age 3-8 who are also interested in dirt bikes and other motor sports.
I’m a little confused about the genre classification of this book. The media kit I was given calls it “juvenile non-fiction,” but this definitely reads like a fiction story. There are characters, a bit of a plot, etc. I understand that it’s meant to be factual and informative, and it is, but it’s also a fiction story. Unless Hudson is a real kid and this day at the track is play by play a real day in his life, in which case please say so! That would be cool for the kids reading the book as well.
About the Author
Alexis Levesque is from Québec, Canada, and always had an interest in motocross. Fueled by this passion, he embarked on a creative journey to craft a children’s book centered around motocross, featuring his son Hudson as the main character. Today, Alexis, along with his family of four, resides in New Brunswick, Canada.
