Author Interview with Will Scifi

What advice would you give budding writers?
Find out what people want to read, then write it. You want to write what you love, but also keep the readers in mind. That’s why it’s important to do market research, and find out what people will love.

What made you write a book about the idea of women killing each other to get married into a rich family?
I was inspired by the MeToo Movement. I wanted to write a book that opened the eyes of the reader and the people inside the book just like the MeToo Movement did. Also the same thing with the death of George Floyd.

How did you do research for your book?
I read the 3 Hunger Games books and watched a couple episodes of the Bachelor. The point of watching the Bachelor was to get an idea of what I didn’t want my book to be so similar to.

Do you have another profession besides writing?
I am currently a high school English teacher.

How long have you been writing?
I’ve been writing since senior year of high school so 2015. Over the years I’ve been experimenting, so writing short stories on my former website. Just recently I started selling fiction on amazon.

Thirty-two Women. One Arena. A Battle to the Death.

After a long war, corporations have replaced countries. Sports are fought to the death. The most popular game is Last Valkyrie, a live tournament where women kill each other for marriage into a powerful family.

For Nova, living in poverty with her mother and sister is a harsh reality that she cannot escape. But when she is kidnapped and forced to fight on the show, her world changes. If she refuses to fight, the bomb in her head goes off. Now winning means her freedom.

With death lurking at every moment, Nova has no idea if her next fight will be her last. But one thing she knows for certain: only one is making it out alive.
