A young queen in peril.
A city under siege.
An elven mercenary with a dark desire.

Nineteen-year-old Eris Telari was never supposed to rule Brucia. She’s always been more interested in swordplay than courtly intrigue.

After her brother’s assassination, however, Eris has no choice but to take up the crown and defend her city against an invasion led by an undefeated elven warlord.

With Brucia’s forces decimated, and a siege looming, Eris needs help. Who better to repel the elven invaders than a band of elven mercenaries?

Their leader, Ruith, is as charming as he is deadly, and used to getting what he wants. Six thousand swords strong, his Crows have a reputation for winning against impossible odds. He won’t take a fight he can’t win, and now he has his sights set on Eris…

Is it her kingdom he wants? Or her?

With assassins and traitors still lurking around every corner, and an army nearly twenty thousand strong at her gates, Eris cannot afford to turn away the Crows’ assistance. Even with their help, the battle for Brucia will be hard-won.

And the most dangerous threat may already be inside her walls and vying for a place at her side…

A Court of Crows is the first book in the gripping Talons and Tethers Saga, a new adult fantasy romance series. Expect courtly intrigue, assassination plots, plenty of heart-pounding action sequences, and strong heroines who do their own rescuing.

NOTE: This series contains four separate slow-burn romances that unfold over several books. Ruith and his Crow commanders have varying and diverse tastes when it comes to romance, but all of them enjoy plenty of spice, so grab your copy and prepare to meet your next book boyfriend(s)!

Excerpt

As soon as they were both through the door, Ruith swept her to him, kissing her almost as fiercely as she kissed him back, the intent—and her answer—clear. But his breath hitched as soon as they moved and he pulled away with a small grunt of pain, grabbing for the injury at his hip.

Eris knitted her brows in concern. “Maybe we shouldn’t.”

“I’m not made of glass, Eris. A little pain will not break me.” He leaned down to kiss her again, slower this time but no less passionately. “We have tonight. Give me tonight?”

Eris nodded, and they came back together, edging carefully toward the bed between breathless kisses. Steel clattered to the floor as Eris abandoned her sword and cast away the belt that held it in place. She would not need that with him. Here, she was safe.

They sank into the bed. Ruith fought to get his shirt off, his arm still stiff, but accepted Eris’s assistance when she offered. Eris splayed her hand over the big diagonal scar that spanned his torso. Though she had already seen him without his shirt many times, she always forgot just how big that one was. It must have taken an incredibly long time to heal.

“Battle of Adricor,” he said, putting a hand over hers. “It was a pike.”

“Sounds painful.”

“Less so than you’d think.”

Eris kissed the widest point of the scar before leaning back and removing her shirt.

Ruith’s beautiful dark eyes roved over her as she rose to remove the rest of her clothes, too. But his fingers didn’t. They brushed over a thin white line between her jaw and ear. “What’s this?”

Eris turned her head and kissed his fingers. “I thought it would be a good idea to stick fight with a boy twice my size.”

He sprouted a smile. “Of course you did.”

“And this?” She kissed a starburst scar just below his shoulder.

“Arrow. Broadhead. Ambush crossing a bridge. Almost got me.”

There were five more similar scars on his torso, all from arrows. Eris kissed each one and listened to every story. One from a woods battle, friendly fire. He broke the soldier’s bow when he found out. Another was from some other siege. He said it was glancing, barely penetrated, but the poison left him sick for days. Eris whispered a prayer of thanks that the arrows that’d hit him on Brucia’s walls had not been poisoned.
