Author Guest Post with Kaylin McFarren

Posted on October 15, 2020 By Jenna No Comments on Author Guest Post with Kaylin McFarren

Welcome to the October 15th guest post stop on the blog tour for Soul Seeker by Kaylin McFarren, organized by Bewitching Book Tours. Be sure to follow the rest of the tour for spotlights, reviews, interviews with the author, and guest posts by the author. Today’s stop here is one of those guest posts, so I’ll let let Kaylin McFarren take it away, and I’ll be back at the end to tell you a little about the book.

Guest Post by Kaylin McFarren

Hello, my name is Kaylin McFarren and I write supernatural thriller novels.

Whether you prefer a drama to sink your teeth into or a comedy that has you howling with laughter, supernatural and paranormal books or television shows are the best avenue for testing your endurance when it comes to this twisted genre. However, almost every premise on network television and fantasy fiction seems to be about hunting down demons, ghosts, monsters, and other supernatural beings and overtaking them in some heroic fashion.

The X-Files was the first show that sold me on pushing boundaries with gender stereotypes and was paired perfectly with Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, playing lead investigative agents. Their chemistry mixed with extraordinary paranormal cases gained the hearts of millions of pop-culture fans and introduced all kinds of extraterrestrial alien encounters and supernatural phenomenon that no one deemed possible or had ever experienced before.

Another great paranormal show that has taken over in popularity is Warehouse 13, which focuses on hunting down demons, ghosts, monsters, and other supernatural beings, much like The X-Files but with a modern twist and new cast of characters.

Supernatural has an untouchable narrative that allows for some amazing (and not so amazing) paranormal storylines that focus primarily on the brotherly bond that Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles share, both on and off screen.

Based on the comic book series, The Walking Dead is by far the most recognized television show when it comes to fighting and surviving in a dangerous world full of man-eating zombies.

But there is one show that stands out and has truly stood the test of time in science fiction storytelling: The Twilight Zone.

Growing up in front of a black and white set, this show was by far my favorite and most frightening show to watch with it’s surprise twist endings and mutated creatures. The morality narratives at the end of each episode captivated and delighted audiences, and over the course of this series, many great actors were featured including Robert Redford, William Shatner, and even Burt Reynolds. Perhaps that’s why I have always been interested in paranormal stories and the idea of writing a world threatening encounter that lingers long after the last page is read.

Jenna’s Comments

Thank you so much for taking the time to send this guest post along for today’s stop. I grew up loving The Twilight Zone too! I grew up watching the second series re-runs, and I was in high school when they tried for a third series. I also loved watching The X Files when it would come on, but for some reason, my mother was less enthusiastic about me watching that one.

Your love for this genre makes me eager to read your work! I did receive a copy of Soul Seeker in my tour package, but since I wasn’t slotted for a review stop and I’ve got so many reviews due this month, I hadn’t downloaded it yet. I’ll be remedying that today! This needs to be higher on my TBR.

This group of scientists, notorious for experimenting on supernatural creatures, forces Crighton into a soulmate relationship with the very angel he was sent to capture for Lucifer.

About the Author

Kaylin McFarren has received more than 50 national literary awards, in addition to a prestigious Golden Heart Award nomination for FLAHERTY’S CROSSING – a book she and her oldest daughter, New York Times/USA Today best-selling author Kristina McMorris, co-wrote in 2008. Prior to embarking on her writing journey and developing the popular THREADS psychological thriller series, she poured her passion for creativity into her work as the director of a fine art gallery in the Pearl District in Portland, Oregon; she also served as a governor–appointed member of the Oregon Arts Commission.

When she’s not traveling or spoiling her two pups and three grandsons, she enjoys giving back to her community through participation and support of various charitable, medical and educational organizations in the Pacific Northwest. Her latest time-travel adventure, HIGH FLYING, asks challenging questions that will linger long after the final twists are revealed. Recently jumping to the supernatural thriller genre, Kaylin’s clever SOUL SEEKER series leads readers into the pit of Hell, through the mechanisms of secret societies, and across the earth’s crust, ever raising the stakes for her leading duo—a wicked demon and a saintly angel with secret earth-shattering agendas. With each story she writes, this author delivers unexpected twists and turns and keeps her readers on the edge of their seats, leaving them guessing and thoroughly entertained.

You’re welcome! Thanks for sending the guest post!

I’ve been trying to get this post its own dedicated shoutout on Twitter all evening but something is going on with the Twitter site. Fortunately I don’t have a full roster of posts tomorrow so I can continue to promote this one in the morning if Twitter doesn’t cooperate.
